The 27-year-old woman and two female friends were waiting in the car park next to the Kings Arms pub in Staplegrove Road.

Police say another car drove into the car park and a dispute began between its occupants and the woman over the way it was being driven.

One of the car's occupants then seriously assaulted the woman, leaving her with a fractured cheekbone which later required hospital treatment.

Woman assaulted in own home
A Taunton man with a history of anti social behaviour attacked a woman who already had a restraining order against him. He barged his way into her home and forced her violently backward against the work top, he then swung out and hit her. On his arrest he lashed out and hit the arresting officer.

This man already had a history of violence and had already served 10 months in prison. This time he recieved a yet another restraining order which he had previously broken, and was given an ASBO which he opposed.

Park Attack
POLICE in Taunton are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was robbed of his wallet and mobile phone while walking across Victoria Park in the town.

The victim was walking through Victoria Park towards Priory Avenue when he was set upon from behind by three men.

The attackers beat the victim to the ground and stole a wallet from his coat and mobile phone from his briefcase before making off towards Albert Street.

Racist Attack
AN Indian man had his nose and cheekbone broken after a gang of youths set on him and two friends in a vicious racist attack.

Police are investigating claims that the culprits, hurling racist insults, pelted Shohel Rana and the others with stones before punching and kicking him.

After the gang ran off, two workmen helped Shohel, 19, who was taken to hospital.

The incident happened in Creechbarrow Road, Taunton, as the they walked home from Asda.
