DecemberThursday 13th December A shoplifter attacked a store manager who had reported him to the police. Daniel Manning, 33, of Hornbeam Close, Taunton, clashed with the shop manager as he walked along East Reach. He shouted "you got me done," to which his victim replied that he had got what he deserved. Manning the ran up to him and punched him in the face and ribs. He later told the police that the victim had assaulted him and he was only acting in self defence. But the court heard that Manning, who had previous convictions for offences including shoplifting and assault, acted out of revenge. Patric Mason, defending, said the incident marked the end of Manning's offending behaviour. Manning recieved a four month jail sentance suspended for two years.
While walking home after a night out my daughter, her 25 year old boyfriend, my step daughter 30 and her husband were attacked by a gang of yobs for no reason. My daughters boy friend was beaten to the ground and kicked about the head and body. My step son inlaw was also beaten about the face. The attack took place in the early hours near superdrug not far from the traffic lights. They were reluctant to call the police as all had been drinking, but are adamant they never did anything to provoke the attack. One of the attackers asked what they were looking at, and the violence kicked off.
