The Government trial

Letters are being written to the home office requesting a trial of a new idea.

This idea is to either build or convert a building that will contain prison cells similar to those in a police station.

There will be a hard bed and a toilet, no luxeries of any kind.

The idea is that insted of a curfew when the offender remains at home, where they have their luxuries and can have friends around. They can be sentanced to however many nights seen fit by the magistrates.

The offerender is locked up from 7pm to 7am every night for the length of the punishment.

By doing this the offenders lose their freedom in the evenings and all their comforts. All they can do is sleep.

This idea protects the public from risks of attack as the usual offenders will be locked up, it provides offeders with a vague routine and it allows them to work or attend education. It also means they can eat before they get locked up and have time to eat before work/education the next day.

There is minimal costs. Just maintenance and a night guard is all that is needed.

This idea has been put to the home office twice and both time it has been acknowledged as a good idea, but unfortunatly been denied due to there being 'no plans to introduce detention centres.' That is the best responce they give.

2 letters have been sent and turned down and one meeting with minister Paul Goggins. The last letter took 3 months for a reply.

The reponce to the meeting and the letters can be read here (unfortunatley the 1st letter has been misplaced).
